Tyco Electronics Forms Licensing Agreement with Fujikura HARRISBURG, PA, Aug. 7 -- Tyco Electronics Corporation, a unit of Tyco International Ltd., and Fujikura Ltd., a supplier of optical interconnection products, have completed a licensing agreement for the production of AMP LIGHTRAY MPXTM interconnection system products. Under the agreement, the two companies will multi-source this fiber-optic backplane connection product line, which is used in the telecommunications and advanced networking markets. "This agreement strengthens the LIGHTRAY MPX interconnection system as a solution for the increased demand for system-level packaging and the multiple source requirements of the communications marketplace," said Rodd Ruland, director of marketing and business development for the Fiber Optic Division of Tyco Electronics. The LIGHTRAY MPX interconnection system is designed primarily for blindmate backplane applications and other dense fiber-to-fiber interconnect applications. It also serves stand-alone interconnections requiring bulkhead porting. According to Tyco Electronics, the LIGHTRAY MPX system includes products and accessories in a variety of configurations, making it suitable for customized requirements and solutions. The system is centered around the LIGHTRAY MPX array connector, which is designed in accordance with Bellcore GR-1435-CORE generic requirements for multi-fiber connectors. Based on MT ferrule technology, LIGHTRAY MPX interconnection assemblies use miniature multi-fiber array connectors, which hold up to 12 fibers on 250 micron centers using a single, glass-filled polymer ferrule. A full line of adapters, in situ cleaning tools, dust covers, and test kits complements the basic product line.
