CHELMSFORD, MA, Aug 3 -- Foresight Imaging has announced a new partnership with Pegasus Imaging Corporation to co-market Pegasus's PICTools Medical Compression Toolkit and Foresight's I-SeriesTM of high-performance frame grabbers. "Capturing medical video including cardiograms and ultrasound generally requires both high-quality capture, as well as a high-quality reliable compression approach, because of the enormous emphasis on image quality and the extensive amount of digital data," said Jack Berlin, president of Pegasus Imaging. "This joint partnership offers our customers a guaranteed, proven solution for capturing and compressing grayscale medical cine."
This is accomplished via use of the Foresight Imaging I-50TM frame grabber with the Pegasus lossless and lossy JPEG implementations found in the PICVideo codec and PICTools Medical Toolkit. For still frame-capture applications such as X-ray images, developers can use advanced wavelet compression technology for transferring better-quality images. PTB Home |

to Foresight and Pegasus, their co-developed interface software and
joint sales and marketing activities have been designed to create a
robust solution for medical and scientific imaging-system providers.
The two companies say that it is now possible to capture and compress
1024 x 1024 pixel 8-bit grayscale real-time, 30-frames-per-second video,
using a Pentium III processor without expensive hardware compression
boards.
