Melles Griot Acquires Laser Power Microlaser Group

CARLSBAD, CA, Dec. 16 -- Melles Griot has acquired the business of Laser Power Microlaser Group, a technology developer and manufacturer of blue, green, and near-infrared, diode-pumped solid-state laser systems. The manufacture and development of these products is immediately being transferred to the Melles Griot Laser Group's new and wholly dedicated 100,000-square-foot laser manufacturing facility in Carlsbad, CA.

According to Michael J. Dorich, chief operating officer of Melles Griot's Laser and Electro-Optics Group, the acquisition will allow Melles Griot to offer additional solutions with powers to 3 Watts at 532 nm, shorter wavelengths to 457 nm, and robust solid-state technology. "We anticipate that even more customers will now be able to look to Melles Griot to fill their needs, whether their interests lie in the areas of entertainment, display, holography, graphics arts, semiconductor process control, analytical instrumentation, mastering, measurement, or other applications," Dorich said.
