BOSTON,
MA, Sept. 20 -- Photonics
East and Electronic Imaging International, both managed by the International
Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE), have opened this week at
Boston's Hynes Convention Center and will continue through Wednesday,
September 22. Approximately 6,000 technical professionals from the Northeast
technology corridor are expected to attend this collection of symposia,
continuing education, and exhibits. These SPIE events -- part of Tech
East '99 -- are co-located with the second annual New
England Design and Manufacturing Expo, which is sponsored by NASA
Tech Briefs and Rapid
Product Development magazines.
Photonics East is the Northeast's only optics and photonics exhibition.
Symposia will cover voice, video, and data communications; environmental
and industrial sensing; and intelligent systems and advanced manufacturing.
Electronic Imaging International is the East Coast's premier annual
imaging expo.

East '99 will continue on November 1-3 at the Fontainebleau Hilton in
Miami, FL, where Technology 2009 -- the 10th annual "Engineering
Innovation Show" -- will be co-located with the Southeast Design
& Manufacturing Expo, the Small Business Expo, and a showcase of
new products developed throughout the government's Small Business Innovation
Research (SBIR) Program.
