Coherent Introduces Verdi®
8W and 10W Green Lasers

SANTA CLARA, CA -- Coherent, Inc. has released the Verdi-V8 and Verdi-V10, the company's new 8-watt and 10-watt continuous-wave, 532nm DPSS (diode-pumped, solid-state) green lasers. According to Coherent, these additions to the Verdi product line provide up to 10 watts on the same small-footprint platform as the Verdi 5W system.

"The unsurpassed optical efficiency of the Verdi allows these high-power systems to be pumped by only two field-replaceable diode bars," said Terry Hannon, product-line manager for Coherent's diode-pumped products. "These aluminium-free laser diode bars from Coherent's Semiconductor Group are housed in a compact power supply."

For scientific applications, the V8 and V10 are designed to be used in conjunction with Coherent's Mira® modelocked titanium:sapphire (Ti:S) laser to produce high average power and wide wavelength tunability with low noise. Coherent says that the V8 and V10 lasers enable new large-area-exposure capabilities in interferometric applications, such as non-destructive testing and holography. The Verdi systems are also designed for high-duty-cycle commercial OEM applications such as magnetic hard disk texturing, film subtitling, reprographics, and display.
