Ocean Optics Introduces the CHEM2000

DUNEDIN, FLA -- The CHEM2000, introduced in October 1998 by Ocean Optics, Inc., is a small-footprint spectrophotometer system that includes a PC2000 PC plug-in fiber optic spectrometer, a tungsten-halogen light source with integrated cuvette holder, an optical fiber, and operating software.

According to Ocean Optics, the PC2000 is a 2048-element linear CCD-array fiber optic spectrometer (350-900 nm) mounted on a half-length, ISA-bus A/D card that fits into a slot in the PC. The LS-1 tungsten-halogen light source with integrated 1-cm square cuvette holder is a white-light source connected to a 1-cm path length chamber.

Other features of the CHEM2000 System include a single-strand optical fiber that couples via SMA terminations to the PC2000 and light source-cuvette holder; and OOIBase, Ocean Optics' Windows-based operating software. According to the company, OOIBase provides users with a real-time interface to a variety of signal-processing, acquisition, display, and measurement functions.
