SLI Introduces 7 Watt HHL
High Brightness Single Chip Diode Laser

BALTIMORE, MD, May 26 -- Semiconductor Laser International Corporation (SLI) has developed its first high brightness single chip diode laser. Applications include marking, welding, cutting, and optical pumping. According to SLI, this single chip offers high beam quality with output powers up to 7 watts at 808 nm in a High Heat load (HHL) package.

This device was among 10 CLEO/QELS 1999 New Product Award winners selected by the Optical Society of America (OSA).

"We are extremely pleased with the recognition our High Heat Load laser diode has received," said Dr. Geoffrey T. Burnham, president and CEO of SLI. "We feel the device will be an asset to a number of customer applications as well as SLI's family of products."

SLI manufactures and produces high-power semiconductor lasers for precision machining, automotive, dental, medical, telecommunications, optical data storage, DVD, printing, and military applications.
