NEWTON, NJ. Apr. 23 -- Thorlabs has added the ASE-FL7001 white light test source to its line of optoelectronic products. According to the company, the ASE-FL7001 is a high-brightness test source producing amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) ranging from 1520 nm to 1620 nm. It is constructed from a single Er-doped fluoride fiber optically pumped by a single LD. Thorlabs says that a fluoride fiber doped with various rare-earth elements can be supplied as an optical gain module with conventional silica fibers as the optical interface. The connection between fluoride and silica fibers is accomplished via an angled PC connection. No index matching oil is used.
